Nap Time

On more than one occasion we've been asked how the new brothers are doing at our house. Jon and I are the first to admit that we've  spent the past 2+ years slightly obsessed with our four legged son, so clearly bringing Nolan home was going to be a bit of a shock to Blue's system. To this I say: We're making progress. This weekend Blue discovered that Nolan is a champion at naps, as is he. I caught Blue curled up near Nolan on more than one occasion so, I had to share...

Just some brotherly love.

Burger Bliss

After Nolan's birth and a little down time at home Jon's busy schedule is back in full swing. Between working full time, preparing for the coming fall term of classes, attending volunteer fire training, and being a teachers assistant part time for EMS courses, he's one busy daddy. So, we make sure to take advantage of any downtime that he has. This past Saturday, we did just that.
We headed out with Nolan, the stroller and Blue with the hopes of grabbing drinks (I was dying for a beer!) and some snacks on the river. We were giddy when we landed ourselves at one of our favorite spots in Tahoe City. The Bridgetender patio.
One napping baby, two delicious beers
and about 3000 calories of deliciousness later,
we were two very happy parents.

Oh, Blue Moon, how I've missed thee.
Their burgers and fries are completely divine.
A happy Jon.
Nolan was a little angel while Mom & Dad
enjoyed their hamburger and beer bliss.
Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on the patio,
so Blue ended up tied up and waiting for us.
He kept his eye on us (and our food) though.
With baby in tow,
we're slightly limited on what we're able to do
in Tahoe so this was a perfect option.
Makes me wish it was summer 12 months of the year.

3 Weeks Old

Before Nolan arrived I wavered for weeks on whether Jon and I should bite the bullet and have professional newborn photos taken. After I met Nolan and saw how good looking he was (biased perhaps?), it almost pushed me over the edge in getting a photographer over to our house asap to snap some images. But alas, in an effort to save our moolah, we opted to forgo the professional photog and instead see what kind of magic I could work with a camera. A photographer, I absolutely am not.  And, if it weren't for the magic of iphoto editing, most of the shots that I snap wouldn't be decent enough to make it up on this blog.  But, in an effort to capture the early weeks on Nolan's life we've been having little impromptu photo sessions in our living room. And may I just mention that newborns are not necessarily the easiest subjects to shoot.
Here are some images of this weeks session,
celebrating Nolan at 3 weeks.

Here's one of our out takes.
Whoopsie!

And a BIG thank you to Aunt Felissa
who handmade Nolan this amazing heart blanket.
We love it!

Roaming Nolan

Before baby came along I kind of promised myself that I wouldn't become baby photo obsessed. Well, I have failed. Terribly. Because I am baby photo obsessed and I love to share them. So bare with me friends.
This little guy has become my very own "Roaming Gnome." I mean, he gets around. In the first two weeks of life he enjoyed his first vacation with the Hay family, had a couple of lunch dates on the lake, went to church, made lots of introductions to family and friends,  enjoyed a bbq at the lake and went to a concert at commons beach. Yes, I'd say this kid has been living the Tahoe life.
Every year the Hay's come to Tahoe for an annual family getaway. The timing worked out great this year, as everyone arrived at the lake just a few days after we brought Nolan home from the hospital. That means introductions galore and I guess you can say, Nolan had his first vacation. We spent the week down at a nice rental house on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe and my family got to pass him around.
Uncle Neal and Nolan
Nolan meets his cousin, Katherine.
Grandpa Hay gets his hands on him.
Nolan got to meet his cousin Roxy too.
My sister, mom, Roxy,  Nolan and I all went
out to lunch at Jakes on the Lake.
Yes, we survived a lunch date with two kiddos under 8 months.
We also took these kiddos to the beach for some summer fun in the shade.

After my family departed, Jon's dad arrived for a visit.
With Jon's family and Nolan in tow,
we had a BBQ at our favorite beach.
An amazing summer storm rolled over the lake,
just as we arrived at the beach.
Luckily though, we (and Nolan) stayed dry.

On their last day in town, we had lunch on the lake and
Nolan was the perfect lunch date.
That evening we went to a concert at Commons Beach.
The music was a bit loud, but this kid slept through the whole thing.
All of our family has departed now and life has slowed down.
Nolan, Blue and I have started taking long daily walks to help Mama get back in shape and we're tackling lots of little projects around the house.

Lots of love from Tahoe

2 Weeks Old

Yesterday Nolan celebrated his two week birthday.
Where in the world did the past fourteen days go?
I whipped out my camera to capture the momentous birthday.

Blame it on my crazy post pregnancy hormones
but I think this guy is already growing up too fast.
I love all that hair and those baby blues.
